We immediately liked that Matchmaker.com is open and honest about their mission. They’re here to marry me off and hey, I better take that seriously. In an ocean of casual popular online dating sites geared towards helping people meet and “hook up”, it really is a refreshing change to find a site that is more interested in finding someone actual love than a hookup for the night.

 

    Matchmaker claims to be free, and they are - to a certain extent. The site boasts free sign ups, messaging via email, and automatic system matches. This is a great start and good news – it's a relief not having to whip out your credit card to logon because it makes you feel less pressure to actually get something out of the dating service right away. Most free dating sites build their bottom line income off of banner ads and toolbars, but there’s something to be said for a service of value that you pay nothing for. The upside to this are that you will get many more matches and have a better chance at finding love on the site. Our guess is that the site's targeted demographic is a bit less money conscious than some of the other singles who frequent the online dating world. Either way, they don’t hit you over the head begging for money, which is refreshing.
